CDPAP

The Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) is a New York State program which allows people to choose their own caregivers. CDPAP allows close relatives, or their own children to become caregivers and to get paid for it. CDPAP stands for Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program, which is a New York State Medicaid program. This program allows consumers to recruit, hire, and direct their home care worker. Consumers can hire their own family members or friends. Please contact us and one of our specialists can guide you through the process.

You can become a caregiver if you are a relative, child or friend of the client.

However, if you are a legal spouse, a person who is a parent who wants to take care of their child who is under 21 years of age, or any person(s) acting as your designated representative, you may not be eligible to be a caregiver.

The CDPAP schedule is determined by the nurse who will visit the patient’s home and assess their needs.

In order to be eligible to apply for this program, there are several prerequisites that must be met in order to be able to enroll for CDPAP. The most basic requirement is that the client must be enrolled in the NY Medicaid program.

In order to be able to enroll for this program, the patient must be able to verify that they are qualified for enrollment. There will be an assessment period performed by a NYS agency – Maximus NYMC. After this assessment process, the patient will be allowed to designate the caregiver of their choice. American Homecare will guide you through this process every step of the way.
